Another Day in Un'Goro

I finally reached the Insect Hive in south Un'Goro heading south from Marshal's Refuge all way around Western rim of the crater. To me I really wanted to just avoid having to run into any of the 4 Elite T-Rex's and doing lots of raptor fighting. However I really have to say I was almost paranoid constantly looking around, stopping next to trees, making sure the area was clear before I made a dash in the open across the area. Galo happen to be next to one of those crater geyser vents when it all of a sudden went off and it almost gave me a heart attack as I though it was the T-Rex on top of Galo again. I've been in the Jungle way too long. As a result it took me a while to get to the Insect Hive and clear open my area map. Funny thing in Un'Goro you never see much people here, usually never more than 6 player or so in the area, Galo included. Not sure why. Do see other players dead corpse laying in the open where the T-Rex roam on its route.
The Insect hive was not as big as I though it would be. Seemed smaller than the one in Tanaris. These insects are very vicious with lots of poisons and stuff you have to cleanse yourself of. Obtained the hive wall sample in the nest area and also had to kill the queen to retrieve her brain for the quest. Took fighting wave after wave of insects after Galo drew out her guards and this went on for a while before the insect Queen showed. If you decide to enter these hives you really need someone that can cleanse you of these insect poison spells or whatever else they throw on you or a pot. I had no problem as a paladin though in removing the spells.

Went up to Fire Plume Ridge which was very cool, killed some Scorching Elementals got some nice loot. Use Paladin Fire Aura here for protection. Saw some higher levels farming there things, for the loot i guess. Completed a quest here to record Temperature at some spots, just find the big black ang glowing stones. Then found the lost goblin in a cave on a side hill flat and had to now escort it back to the camp at Marshal's Ridge. Had to run half way across the zone to escort him back to the camp. Didn't like the idea of doing a escort quest in the area here.

We completed the escort, made it on time as the goblin just pretty much follows you so was one of the better escort quests unlike the escort chicken quest back in Tanaris. The Goblin fell down a few time and I revived him back with some water and we were off again running. A good escort quest it turned out and we didn't run into any of the Elite T-Rex as i vigilant of them roaming around, I made sure of that. Got nice XP for it also. I like fighting and killing the Elites and everything, I just hate these T-Rex's around here.

All quest here seem to now lead me to Winterspring. I also found a quest that Galo have to head to Winterspring for to find someone there also. As of now only have 1 quest left to complete for Un'Goro area and will get to it later as that one leads to the Sunken Temple in SOS.

Specing Galo & Setting Goals.

Since leveled up to 54 and receiving all training at trainer, placed another point in Retribution tree so i'm now 0/38/7. Goal ahead is to drop 11 more points in retribution to get Imp Retribution Aura picking up Parry, Seal of Command along the way. Soloing is my play style so that build will fit me well. I will drop 5 more points in Protection to solidify all damage mitigation and tanking abilities.

However that may change up as soon as patch 2.1 takes place and having to get the Imp Holy Shield, so will have to see point spread then or how the new tree looks. Don't know as yet if we will get a free respec on that when it happens. So far i've never had to respec my core talent tree, always been protection spec.

Looking ahead its 4 more levels to Outland. I can feel getting closer to the goad of earning my place to finally head to Outland. I can just about grind it to 58 and get it done in a day or two if i really wanted to but it would be no fun. As soon as i hit 58 i'm booking my flight to Outland. I've set some goals for Galo in Outland.

  • Get to level 70. Its why i started the journey. Finish it! I'm no Alt-a-holic!!
  • Earn faction reputation points as needed and for Alchemy Mastery.
  • Level up Alchemy and specialize. Yet undetermined.
  • Continue to save up for the Flying mount. (Over 1200g already)
  • Properly gear up Galo with good gear weapons and amour.
  • Find a few good people to group with or good players.
  • Do all 5 man Heroics as my main focus for Outland Instances.
  • When bored, Solo run lower level Instances and twink up the priest in Blues & Epics.
  • Don't care much for Raiding & not planning on much.
Not everyone goals are the same, some people don't have any playing this game. These are just my goals and from my perspective of my own time and enjoyment. Hopefully this will be my guide for continuing play and i can stick to these goals with flexibility.

After finishing last few quests in Un'Goro i need to clean up my Quest bank and finish those i feel like doing. Do the Sunken Temple Paladin Quest i have yet to do for 50. Head to Western Plagueland to finally purge undead souls. I have yet to quest in the Burning Steeps, Searing Gorge, or Azshara zones and unsure how much i will be able to right now. For every zone you quest i, it reduce the chances of questing in another area equally. However the goal is Outland however it takes to get there and escape Azeroth!

Hunting for Food Supplies

I'm almost out of food supplies or buffing food (Strength & Spirit) and in need of some replenishment. I've been able to level up all my other skills and somehow I'm a bit stuck on leveling up cooking at 337, with no orange or yellow recipes i can find anywhere to train on. Food supplies on AH cost a few gold to purchase so headed up to the Hinterlands to kill some Owlbeast. Tip: It pays when questing to remember just where things are found.

I haven't been using my 2H weapons as much lately so popped a Intelligence pot, used BOK to raise stats (Intelligence) and went grinding on some Owlbeasts. Leveled back up quickly my 2H mace weapon skill close to max skill and got my 20 eggs i needed in about 45 minutes. Killed some White Wolfs there also for their meat, picked some Sungrass, Fadeleaf & Golden Sansum Herbs all in same area. Headed back to the Horde camp, made food for stock and headed back to Undercity to give Galo some rest in the Inn.

Owlbeasts are good for their eggs as its used in cooking (Nice buff) and its a Tanaris quest item for Artisian Cooking level quest by Dirk Quickcleave in Tanaris. So worth a bit on AH. Much easier to get the eggs from the Owlbeast in the Hinterlands than Roc Birds in Tanaris.

Ding Ding, Level 54.

Was somewhat of a slow day and a bit of detouring. Head out to Mauradon to complete a special quest for a Trinket (Mark of the Chosen) which is really nice for a Protection Paladin.

Headed into Mauradon and in about a hour after found all 5 of the Khan Spirits for the quest in both sections of Mauradon. Got the Spirit Amulet going in and found 3 Khans in the outer Orange/Purple sections and the other 2 Khans a little way inside of both Instances for the gem stones. Completed the quest and got the "Mark of the Chosen" Trinket from the centaur. Great this gives me a 2% change of struck in combat to proc a +25 to all stats buff, pretty to get a weapons proc as a Protection Paladin. With Crusader on the Hanzo Sword it stacks also.

Did some AH wheeling and dealing, cleared up some mail, made some AH profit. Sent rest of stuff to my Alt character to sell and headed back to Un'Goro. My Mercurial Stone did finally sell after 5 days of relisting it on AH sold for 80g on AH to some higher level Jewelcrafter which was great.

Back in Un'Goro I had about 5 XP bars to go and didn't feel like running around as much. So I decided to go grinding on some gorillas and raptors. So in about little over 1 hours time with max rest bonus went through 50K XP and Dinged 54. I had many close calls with that damm T-Rex again. Think T-Rex had it in for me for killing all the raptors, he really kept making the rounds. I really hate the mind controol and fear spell that T-Rex put on you. Needless to say he killed me once again. I'm gonna make him pay later!

Grinding on the raptors I go a nice blue plate drop loot and a purple epic staff drop. WOOT! This be my 6th world epic drop ever. Was worth spending a hour to mince up the raptors for this nice epic drop (Glowing Brightwood Staff). Placed it on AH for a few hundred gold.

Headed to Silvermoon to the Paladin trainer to level up skill training now i'm 54 and purchased 1 new spell spell in Greater Blessing of Wisdom, a group buff. Purchased also 4 improved rank spells or blessings and in all spent about 20g for what was available. Spells costing on average 3.6g a spell. Spells are costing a bit these days, especially since I get every new spell or blessings available to train on.

Started a Alt Character.

Over the last few days i decided to start a Alt character to my main Paladin character. Its really about been efficient in questing why i decided to do so. Having to constantly return to a big city to sell my stuff on AH is a time sink when questing. I also hate to be contributing to what i see is a problem in WoW with so many people having Alt characters, thus you never see then around much for friendship, grouping or in guild. Purpose of the new Alt character is primarily a bank runner to sell my questing inventory loot for me on AH and scan stuff i need and have him mail new stuff back to me. I can mail stuff in far away zones to him cheaply, have him collect it in mail and sell it on AH. I've also seeded him 100g for auctioning use and market speculation trading.

The new character is a Blood Elf Priest boy. I leveled him up a bit to level 18 in the process as i got it done pretty fast in a few hours so he now have some skills and i twinked him up with lots of good green gear and skilled him in skinning and disenchanting. Didn't really take long to do as i remember all the quests in the Blood Elves area and i just zapped through them with minimal effort. Anyway the priest now has residency in Silvermoon Inn as its easy to get to and forth from the mailbox and to the AH there.

All things other wise the priest will not be mentioned much in this blog. Will refer to him mostly as my Alt character for all references since he's not a character I will be playing much right now or care to level up. My main focus is on playing a Protection Paladin and getting to level 70 and that's what this blog is about mostly of my journey.
